Cesare Ferronato - Bilhauer und Zeichner - Das Buch

Art film «Für C.F.»

The Swiss artist Cesare Ferronato working in the volume of stone, bronze and drawing granted Hannes Schüpbach a cinematic view to his studio. Hannes Schüpbach who «creates with his images and the composition of his colour movies without sound a similar experience as in poems and whose film language is based on the image as a parallel track of reality and metaphoric particle» (Pro Helvetia, 2003), has realised a personal record with his tribute to the 80th birthday of his elder colleague, in which the own personal environment and art reality of Cesare Ferronato comes to life in its context.

«Cesare Ferronato, his closest family members and his environment are shown from the perspective of sculpture. Because this is the nature of an artist regarding his space which he permeates and defines through his awareness.

The elements of real bodies transform into the proportions and measures of the sculptural lead by attention and driven by his sense of humour that lets him find the characteristic, the exaggeration as well as the surprising element by moving proportions and significance. His sculptures embody an illusion by their lyric stylisation which rests embedded in the material or seems to emerge from it. The figures present themselves full of thoughts and ideas, compressed in smallest space, like the masses of the mostly hard materials they are made of. The film shows mutual moments as a memento in which once contexts then again single, into images transformed gestures are lighting up.»
